Role-playing video game (Eng. Computer Role-Playing Game (CRPG or RPG)) – a computer game based on the gameplay elements of traditional desktop role-playing games. Instead of the full name of the term is often used English abbreviation CRPG or just RPG. Vivid examples of computer role-playing games: Series Gothic, The Elder Scrolls, Wizardry, Pokemon, Ultima, Fallout, Baldur’s Gate, Might & Magic. An example closest to your desktop role-playing games CRPG among fans of role-playing games are usually considered Planescape: Torment. Rollingz E. and D. Morris believe that the computer role-playing games are not a separate genre, since they are based on the concept of Dungeons & Dragons with the addition of action-adventure format element simulation of life in a fictional world.  In role-playing game, the player controls one or more characters, each of which is described by a set of numerical characteristics, the list of skills and abilities; Examples of such characteristics can be hit points (Eng. hit points, HP), or indicators such as fighting strength, agility, defense or evasion. During the game, they can change: one of the goals is to increase the opportunities for the player characters by improving their parameters, usually expressed in “levels” of the character. Gameplay usually is based on the study of the game world, fighting with all sorts of enemies and performing zadaniy- “quest” for which are given to a variety of awards. RPG gameplay elements found in other computer games: turn-based strategy, real-time strategy, shooters first and third person. Presumably, the first computer role-playing games were Dungeon (1975), and dnd (1974). Text CRPG rose from text adventure and MUDov. Among the first of these were dnd and Akalabeth (1980), gave rise to the famous series Ultima. Since the late 1980s, the genre of computer role-playing games is established in the PC platform. In 1985-87 out games like Nethack, probably the most famous of the text RPG, Bard’s Tale, the first game of Interplay, Might & Magic, the first game in the series, has long been a benchmark for the genre, Ultima IV, a game with a non-trivial system of moral values, Wizardry, Dungeon Master (Series Zork). With this begins the golden age of CRPG, every year that brings new quality games in the genre. Role playing acquire brilliance and interactivity, there are attempts to move away from the two-dimensional image of the situation picture. At the same time on consoles NES is released Final Fantasy.
